Johanna Brown: Yoga Teacher

Johanna discovered Yoga quite by accident.  It was as though a very precious and profound gift was delivered by the universe at precisely the right moment.  It was 4 years later that illness and depression would cast a very dark shadow in her life, but would ultimately strengthen her connection with the experience of stillness, quieting thoughts and mindful breath that is the essence of Yoga.  They say that every experience provides an opportunity to learn and to grow - indeed.  It also instilled in Johanna a deep curiosity to find out more about this magical, mystical practice that was a grounding force during a turbulent time.

18 years on Johanna practices and teaches her personal expression of the flowing style of Vinyasa Yoga - an invigorating and grounding practice for the body and mind. Classes are light and fun, exploring new movements and strong poses in a playful way.  For completeness and balance, Johanna also includes longer held poses that offer restorative benefits, and a focus on breathing techniques to support not only the physical part of the practice, but also the experience of whatever arises emotionally during the class.  With intention of holding a sacred space, Johanna’s hopes is for her students to cultivate an awareness of their own body inside and out, to notice their reactive-ness, and to continue to grow and learn from each experience that life throws us, on and off the mat.
